Orange City, Ep.3: An old planter who sells oranges on livestream

E-commerce is a modern means of bringing Yichang’s fresh oranges from the hills to the whole world.

Zhou Gongshou, 67, is a fruit planter in Wangjialing Village, Zigui County, Yichang City. In 2021, he climbed on the e-commerce train and became a livestreaming host, promoting his oranges all round China and to the world. Yichang has offered farmers like Zhou free training, set up logistics networks and encouraged livestreaming platforms to support these orange planters.

Now, many local farmers like Zhou have begun new lives and careers. These delicious and tasty oranges from Yichang are now sold all over the world and have become a "golden key" allowing local farmers to get rich. The oranges are truly " treasure fruit" for them.
