China Yangtze River Three Gorges Int'l Tourism Festival to kick off in Yichang

The 14th  China Yangtze River Three Gorges International Tourism Festival is slated to open in Yichang, central China’s Hubei province, from September 16 to 27.

This year's event will feature 18 activities across seven categories, including the opening ceremony, cultural tourism, economy and trade as well as tourism promotion.

The opening ceremony will be held at 7:30 pm on September 16 at the Lighthouse Square. It will be immediately followed by a large-scale music, dance, poetry and painting cultural performance with the Yangtze River as the theme.



During the festival, meetings will be held between Hubei and Chongqing to further deepen cultural and tourism cooperation between the two regions. At the same time, the first Yichang Chushang Conference will be held to publicize and promote Yichang's investment environment, carry out economic and trade visits and negotiations, and promote the signing of high-quality industrial projects.

Additionally, Zhaojun Culture and Tourism Festival, Dangyang Guan Gong Culture and Tourism Festival, Qing River Open Water Swimming Event and the 9th Yangtze River Piano Music Festival will all be held during the tourism festival.

The 9th Hubei Yichang (Yiling) Citrus Festival will take place as well during the tourism festival. It will include special events such as the Orange Farmers' Fun Games, Citrus Beer Music Party, and the National Citrus Industry Technology System Exchange.

The large-scale tourism festival is jointly organized by the Hubei provincial government and Chongqing municipal government. Held for 13 years alternating between the two locations, it has become a staple in China’s tourism industry.
