On June 9, the descendants of Qu Yuan (c. 340 BC – 278 BC) from Baobu Village in Changhua City, Taiwan and Wangusi Village in Zigui County celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival together.

They made zongzi, crafted herbal pouches, hung Chinese mugwort leaves and sang folk songs. They shared each other’s cultural traditions and customs across the Taiwan Strait. The festival is closely related to Qu, one of the greatest patriotic poets and politicians in Chinese history, who drowned himself on the fifth day of the fifth month of lunar calendar to protest the downfall of his country.
