Christopher, an American expat teacher at Tianwen School, immersed himself in local traditions by learning how to make Zongzi in Yichang's Liujiadayan neighborhood. This activity was part of the 'Dragon Boat Festival in Yichang' series, which highlights the city's rich cultural heritage.


The Dragon Boat Festival, which takes place on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, is a tribute to Qu Yuan, a revered poet known for his patriotism. In keeping with the tradition that honors this esteemed poet, Christopher, who has been living in Yichang for almost a year, joined local residents to master the art of making Zongzi - delicious sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves.
