The unique styles of Yichang Zongzi

Workers from Qugu International Agriculture Group in Zigui County, Yichang City, are making different varieties of zongzi in preparation for the upcoming Chinese Dragon Boat Festival that falls on June 22 this year.
The Dragon Boat Festival, the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, has a history of more than 2,000 years. The festival commemorates the death of Qu Yuan (340–278 b.c.), an upright and honest poet and statesman who is said to have committed suicide by drowning himself in a river. Zongzi is a traditional food associated with the Dragon Boat Festival carrying with it much historical meaning.
In Zigui County, the workers wrapped oranges, yellow peaches, candied dates and other specialties in bamboo or reed leaves, making unique styles of Yichang Zongzi.
