The closing ceremony of the 16th Hubei Games was held on Monday in the Yichang Olympic Center.
This 16th edition of the Hubei Games is the largest ever held. A total of 29 delegations with more than 30,000 athletes took part in the games – a record – competing for 2,267 gold medals. The 16th Games also had the widest range of competitive events.
The closing ceremony was graced by a number of fine artistic performances, including “I Can I Can”, the inspiring anthem of the 16th Hubei Games.
The audience was also able to see and hear Tangerine Ode, a classical Chinese poem written by ancient poet Qu Yuan, set to music and dance.
Xiaogan, a city of 4 million people about 80km to the northwest of Wuhan, will be the next city to host the Hubei Provincial Games.
