The Three Gorges Project, started in 1994, is also known as Three Gorges Hydroelectric Power Station. Located in the Xiling Gorge section of the Yangtze River in Yichang City, it is the largest water conservancy project in the world and the hydropower project with the most widespread benefit. The project mainly consists of the 3032-meter-long and 185-meter-high dam, the hydroelectric plant, and the navigation buildings.
