A snapshot of Dianjun District

Dianjun District is located on the south bank of the Yangtze River in central Yichang City, where Guan Yu (c. 160 – 220), a famous general of Shu during the Three Kingdoms period, used to train his troops. “Dianjun” literally means to call out the troops.

The terrain of Dianjun is high in the west and low in the east, with an altitude difference of 1,265 meters. The district’s landscape consists of more than 300 peaks, 13 rivers and 100 caves.

The Chexi Folk Culture Tourism Area is located in Tucheng Town. Inhabited by Tujia and Han villagers, you can come here to watch the "Dream Back to Chexi" night show and immerse yourself into Tujia culture.

Mingcui Valley Scenic Spot lies in the Ziyang Village. The valley is characterized by its luxuriant greenery, rocks of strange shapes, steep cliffs, beautiful flowers and birds.

Juanqiaohe Wetland Park opened to the public in October 2022. The park covers around 180 hectares and consists of beautiful urban wetlands that contain more than 100 types of rare plant species.

By the end of 2021, the resident population of Dianjun was 101,600. In 2021, the regional GDP reached 8.118 billion yuan (US$1.184 billion), an increase of 18.5 percent over the previous year.
