Zigui County, Yichang City, located in the western region of Hubei Province, is near the Xiling Gorge of the Yangtze River and at the head of the dam of the Three Gorges Project. It is the hometown of Qu Yuan, the great poet during the Warring States period(476-221BC). 

According to data from 2021, Zigui County’s population stood at 364,202 residents with a total GDP of 18.74 billion yuan (US$ 2.67 billion). During the same time, per capita disposable income of urban residents reached over 30,000 yuan.

Zigui County has a total area of 2,274 square kilometers with greenspace totaling 533.19 hectares, covering 44.43 percent of its total area. It is known as "China’s natural oxygen bar", with 339 good air days in the year 2021. In October 2021, the county was awarded the distinction of being one of the national ecological civilization construction demonstration areas.

Zigui County is also known as "the hometown of Chinese navel oranges,” producing around 80 varieties of the fruit. In October 1995, Zigui ponkan won the bronze medal in the second China Agricultural Expo in Beijing. In 2021, the citrus-growing area of the county produced a total output of 757,700 tons.

Its Jiuwan silk wadding tea was once used as a tribute to the royal family during the Qianlong Period (1736-1795) of the Qing Dynasty. In 2021, the county's tea production reached 8,000 tons.
