Yichang’s Yiling District, on the banks of the Yangtze River between the mountains of western Hubei and Jianghan Plain, is famous for tea, oranges, minerals and the mighty Three Gorges dam.

Soil conservation is a key priority in the area close to the dam.

A mineral-rich area, Yiling graphite ore is some of the highest quality found in Asia.

The district boasts three forest parks - Xisaiguo, Dalaoling Park and Bifengdong - as well as Quanyitang National Wetland Park.

The largest and most populous district in Yichang, Yiling covers an area of 3,439 square kilometers and has a population of almost 600,000.

In 2021, the region registered GDP of 67.1 billion yuan (US$9.6 billion), up 19.7% year-on-year.
