Yichang in Central China and Třebíč of the Czech Republic signed an official agreement on a sister city relationship for closer mutual cooperation on April 10, 2019.

Located in the south-central part of the Czech Republic, Třebić enjoys convenient transportation and is an important center for the industry, trade, culture and tourism of Moravia. The city's pillar industries include machinery manufacturing, auto parts, leather and shoe manufacturing, nuclear power and electrical engineering.

The friendship between Yichang and Třebíč dates back to June 2015, when then governor of Vysokina State, Jiří Beyronek, visited Yichang. In September of the same year, a delegation from Třebíč was invited to attend the international seminar focused on the “Yangtze River Economic Belt.” While there, both sides agreed to engage with each other extensively in areas including economy, trade, investment, tourism, culture and education.

With frequent visits at the governmental level between the two sides, the cities have worked in close cooperation with fruitful exchanges when it comes to education, sports and economics. In April 2016, a delegation of teachers and students from Třebíč had a week-long exchange program at Tianwen International School in Yiling District. In November of that year, a delegation from Tianwen International School paid a return visit to elementary and secondary schools in Třebíč. Additionally, Třebíč even sent seven runners, including their Development and Planning Bureau director, to participate in the Yichang International Marathon in 2017 and 2018.

In 2020, Yichang and Třebíč worked together to fight the epidemic. Třebíč donated 27,000 masks and nearly 30,000 other protective materials to Yichang. Yichang paid close attention to the situation in Třebíč and shared its experience in epidemic prevention and control.
