Qingjiang National Wetland Park, located at the base of Mount Wuling in Changyang county in Yichang, was officially recognized as a national level wetland park in 2019.

On the middle reaches of the Qingjiang River, in an area known for its Tujia villages, it is a rare hybrid natural ecosystem in China, combining rivers, ponds, reservoirs, islands and mountains.

The park has abundant rainfall and is rich in natural resources. It has 122 types of wild plants, two of which are second-class national protected. There are 45 types of fish in the park and it is also home to 162 types of wild animals, nine of which are recognized as second-class national protected animals.

Included in the park’s 2,338 hectares are part of the Geheyan Reservoir – an important water conservancy hub of the Yangtze River – and part of the surrounding mountains.

More than half of the park’s total area is wetland.
