40 million yuan support for Yichang rape plantation

Two rape plantation projects in Yichang have received combined funding of 40.05 million yuan (US$5.60 million) from the central government, up 44.3 percent on a year ago, the Yichang Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said on September 18.

The funding for Rape Rotation was 29.25 million yuan, an increase of 58.5 percent over last year. This project mainly subsidizes the seed, fertilizer, medicament and agricultural machinery operation services required for autumn rape. The subsidy standard is 150 yuan/mu and the project can cover an area of 195,000 mu. One hectare equals 15 mu.

The funding for Green High Quality and High Efficiency Winter Rape was 10.8 million yuan, 20 percent more than last year. The focus of this program is the purchase of pesticides and foliage fertilizer, with the subsidy standard being 60 yuan/mu for an area of 180,000 mu.

In autumn 2022, the rape plantation area will reach 1.45 million mu, an increase of 140,000 mu over last year, and total output is expected to reach 230,000 tons, according to Yichang Agro-Tech Extension and Service Center.
