Sanxia Airport sees surge in foreign travelers

Sanxia International Airport reported handling 106,000 inbound and outbound passengers and 721 international flights this past year, an increase of 16.8% in the number of passengers and 25.8% in the number of flights compared to the previous record year in 2019, both setting new milestones.

In 2024, Sanxia International Airport gradually resumed passenger flights to destinations, such as Seoul, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, leading to a remarkable surge in passenger throughput and boosting Yichang’s tourism industry.
Over 60,000 foreign passengers from more than 30 countries transited through the airport, accounting for 60.9% of the total traveler volume. Among them, 15,000 were visa-free foreign passengers. In comparison to the previous peak in 2019, the number of foreign passengers increased by 23.7 times, with the proportion of foreign passengers topping all provincial ports in Hubei.
