Ships are busy in the Xiling Gorge along the Yangtze River. Water has become the main mode of transportation in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, accounting for 70% of cargo. It has become a "water highway" connecting east, middle and west China, and has helped to promote the rapid economic development of areas along the river.
In March, 12.56 million tons of freight passed through the Three Gorges Dam, a 63.7% increase compared to just one year ago.
