Mid-April is cherry season! In Caijiahe Village, Yiling District, villagers and tourists are out picking ripe cherries.
In recent years, Yiling District has actively promoted links between agriculture and rural tourism. Tourists can visit farms and orchards to pick cherries, blueberries and strawberries. This is fun for visitors and a welcome boost to farmers’ income.
In 2022, about 60% of the total number of visitors to the area – 9.2 million – were rural tourists, generating 15.4 billion yuan (US$22.4 billion) of income.
