Zigui hosts navel orange skills competition

Nearly 200 skilled farmers competed in a friendly competition yesterday in the Xiongjialing Village orchards. They picked oranges, pruned trees, fertilized crops, and competed in drone transportation contests. This government sponsored event was held to help improve the skills of local orange farmers.

With nearly 27,000 hectares of navel orange orchards in the area, this delicious fruit is a vital source of income for local farmers.

 

The Zigui County government has encouraged experienced individual orange farmers to form service teams while working in the orchards. Their services can cover the complete production process, including fertilization, pruning, grafting, pesticide application, harvesting, and transportation. This approach helps individuals to secure more permanent jobs and income sources throughout the year.
