Yichang has launched a new initiative to prevent pollutants from entering the Yangtze River.
With numerous ships often queuing upstream to navigate the Three Gorges Dam, the city has deployed a fleet of waste-collecting vessels to transport garbage and wastewater from these ships to a designated treatment area onshore. This newly established treatment zone has been processing all domestic pollutants and oily sewage since the start of the year.
