Caodian, a tranquil village in Zhijiang, was rejuvenated on July 9 by the 2024 Ni Cangzi Cultural Festival. This ancient tradition, dating back nearly a millennium, brought villagers of all ages together for enthusiastic mud fights, captivating Yangge dances, and vigorous tug-of-war battles in the rice paddies. The Yangge dance, a lively and colorful Chinese folk dance, featured vibrant costumes and exuberant movements.

Originally a harvest blessing ritual, where farmers smeared mud on the host for good fortune, Ni Cangzi has evolved into a joyful and communal mud-slinging event. Amidst the splashes and laughter, the festival offered a vivid glimpse into the community's cultural heritage and spirit, making it a unique and memorable celebration.
