Long-tailed tits sighted in Houhe Nature Reserve

Five long-tailed tits have been observed for the first time in Yichang’s Houhe National Nature Reserve. The five young birds had grape-brown coloring on their heads and necks, a gray or black back, black wings with white edges, and long tails. Some of them had silver-gray spots on their throats.

Tits – active, noisy, social and highly intelligent birds – are found in Europe, Asia, North America and Africa. They mainly inhabit forests, woods and parks and feed on seeds and insects and play an important role in forest pest control.
