With temperatures forecast to plunge overnight, Zigui has taken protective measures to minimize losses. Tea farmers have picked some early tea and tea trees have been covered to protect them from the cold.
Zigui County is famous for its "silk tea". Its 115,900 mu (7725 hectares) of tea plantations generate annual revenue of 1.3 billion yuan (US$181 million).
