Tundra swans wintering in Jijiahu Wetland Park are attracting crowds of visitors. This is the fourth year in a row that these swans have spent the winter months in Yichang.

The tundra swan is a protected animal in China. In summer they live on the northern tundra where there are many lakes and ponds. During the winter they prefer shallow lakes, wide slow-moving rivers and coastal estuaries, especially those with agricultural fields nearby.

Tundra swans form lifelong pairs that remain together all year round. When they’re not breeding, they form large flocks that travel, forage and roost together.
