Golden anniversary celebration in Xingshan

A golden anniversary celebration was held in Xingshan, Yichang on October 20 in honor of China’s Double Ninth Festival, a day to recognize the elderly.
Sixty-four “golden wedding” couples took part in this celebration. The average age was 77 and the longest marriage has lasted 65 years.
Dating back to 2,000 years ago, the Double Ninth Festival refers to the 9th day of the 9th month of the traditional Chinese calendar. In modern times, it is seen as a day to celebrate longevity.
