Three Gorges Dam achieves a new cargo record in August

The Three Gorges Dam achieved a new cargo record in August. Its five-tier ship locks handled more than 15.71 million tonnes of cargo in the moth, nearly 7% higher than the previous year, according to China Three Gorges Corporation, which runs the world's largest hydropower project.
During August, the ship locks were used 965 times, helping pass through 3,737 vessels.
This is the first time monthly cargo exceeded 15 million tonnes since the locks opened 20 years ago.
