The Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge

Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge, an 838-meter suspension bridge, is located 2.7km downstream of Gezhouba Dam. It is only the second in the world to be built with composite steel concrete beams without supporting piers. This design was adopted to protect the Chinese sturgeon. The bridge is also equipped with lights that do not shine directly into the river.
