Yide Cultural Park will open in early July on Station Road in Danyang City. The park is centered around the legends of the famous general Zhang Fei from the Three Kingdoms era (220 – 280 AD), whose courtesy name is Yide. Its wetlands, plants, and landscapes offer visitors a unique way of experiencing the history in a scenic environment.
Zhang is one of the key characters in the famous Chinese novel “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” which is believed to have been written in the 14th century and has become a household name among Chinese people ever since.
The Three Kingdoms era was a fascinating time in Chinese history full of political turmoil and military conflict. During this time, three kingdoms emerged as the dominant powers in China: Wei, Shu, and Wu.
Dangyang was the site of numerous battles that took place during this period, and the name Dangyang appears 57 times in the novel.
