Fried sugar cake, called "Youxiang’er" in Chinese, is a popular and delicious snack in Xingshan County, Yichang City. Its name, derived from the odor given off when it is fried, means "Oily Aroma". It is made of wheat flour wrapped in brown or white sugar. When fried in an oil pan, the sugar melts into syrup. It is extremely sweet in taste because sugar is added to both the outer dough covering and the filling.
