The 5-color steamed buns at Huaxi Thatched Cottage in Gaolan Village, Xingshan County, Yichang City, are a popular local specialty among diners.
The 5-color steamed buns are made using natural coloring from ingredients such as sweet purple potato, pumpkin, dragon fruit, carrot and spinach. The ingredients are squeezed into a juice and mixed with the flour.
