Changyang’s gene bank for the rare dove tree has recently earned a spot on the city’s Protected Forest Germplasm Resources List.

Located within the Erdunyan Provincial Nature Reserve, the site spans nearly 2,000 mu (133.33 hectares) of dense dove tree growth, most of it flourishing in untouched forests above 1,000 meters in elevation.

Nearby, the Leyuan Museum of Davidia Origin in Kangjiawan Village preserves over 3,800 dove tree seeds and specimens, with exhibits detailing how the British botanist Ernest Henry Wilson first documented this "living fossil" species in Changyang over a century ago.
