Changyang to build Chinese Salamander Museum

Changyang is planning to build a dedicated museum for the Chinese salamander (Hynobius chinensis), a critically endangered amphibian native to Yichang’s Bengjianzi National Nature Reserve. The museum will highlight the species’ life history, conservation challenges, and ongoing protection efforts, aiming to raise public awareness about biodiversity conservation. Currently in the design phase, the museum will also host a variety of science outreach activities once completed.
