Sun Jiajun breaks record and swims 50m butterfly under 22s

Yichang athlete Sun Jiajun set a new Asian record for the men's 50m butterfly of 21.97 seconds on September 24. He broke the record during the semifinals of the 2024 National Swimming Championships in Wuhan.
He improved on the national record of 22.39 seconds which he set in the morning and advanced into the final in first place.
Sun became the first Asian swimmer to finish in under 22 seconds.
On August 4, Sun won gold in the men's 4x100m medley relay at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
