Field to Cup: The Journey of Tea

Renowned for its rich tea culture, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County is the birthplace and primary production area of Yihong black tea. The tea gardens in Wufeng span 14,733 hectares, yielding an output value exceeding 1.2 billion yuan (US$166 million).

Wufeng is an important point on the "Tea Road,” or the "10 Thousand Li (5,000 kilometers) of Tea Road,” which once saw tea from East China's Fujian province carried all the way to Mongolia and Russia almost two hundred years ago.

About 300 kilometers of the road are well preserved within Wufeng county. This area was once prosperous due to the overseas sale of Yihong Black Tea via the tea road.
