A historic cultural scenic spot - Sanyou Cave

Seven kilometers northwest of Yichang’s city area is Sanyou Cave, on a cliff overlooking the Yangtze River at the mouth of Xiling Gorge.
Sanyou Cave, famous for its wall carvings by ancient literati, is listed as a national cultural site.
Bai Juyi is one of the most famous poets in Chinese history. In the year 819, during the Tang Dynasty, Bai Juyi and two of his friends visited the cave, and each wrote a poem there. Bai also wrote some lines on the cave wall that are referred to as the "Sanyou Cave Preface".
During the Song Dynasty, the writers Su Xun, Su Shi and Su Zhe also visited the cave and wrote poems on the cave wall.
