The Qing River Open Water Swimming Event made a splash at the Qing River Gallery Scenic Area in Changyang autonomous county, central China’s Hubei province, on September 17.

A total of 688 swimmers from 36 teams across the country took part in the race. The event, in its eighth edition, consists of a 5,000-meter open water race, a 3,000-meter open water race and a freestyle swimming event.

Competitors were divided into two groups, with participants ranging in age from 13 to 65. Wang Xuanchen, 13-year-old from Hubei, took fifth place in the men's 3,000-meter race despite being the youngest participant in his group.
