GAC's Yichang plant reaches production milestone of 200,000 vehicles

Guangzhou Automobile Group’s (GAC) Yichang plant rolled out its 200,000th vehicle on Wednesday, a tribute to unstinting efforts in industrial transformation and upgrading.
It took GAC's plant in Yichang two years and eight months to produce the first 100,000 vehicles. The next batch of 100,000 vehicles were manufactured in half that time, just one year and four months.
In the first five months of this year, the company notched up a production and sales volume of 35,000 vehicles and an output value of 3.4 billion yuan (US$469 million), both up more than 50% year-on-year.
One of the company’s most popular models is the GS3 SUV, which was launched in March this year. More than 20,000 units have already been sold in China and export sales began in June.
