Zigui County, Yichang City, located in the western region of Hubei Province, is near the Xiling Gorge of the Yangtze River and at the head of the dam of the Three Gorges Project. It is the birthplace of Qu Yuan, the celebrated poet of the Warring States period (476-221BC).

Zigui County is also known as “the hometown of Chinese navel oranges,” producing around 80 varieties of the fruit. In 2021, the citrus-growing region of the county produced a total output of 757,700 tonnes.
