Yuquan Mountain Scenic Area

Yuquan Mountain Scenic Area is located in Dangyang, Yichang. With more than 85 percent of the land covered in forests, here you will find a wide variety of animals and plants, including some rare species. This national 4A tourist attraction has a central scenic area of 8.9 square kilometers.


Visitors can start their tour at the Mountain Gate Square of the scenic area. There is no admission fee.

The first scenic spot you can expect to come across is the Huaxi Wetland, a great place to walk, camp, take pictures, or relax among the flowers.

The most famous scenic spots along the route include the Yuquan Temple, Iron Pagoda in Yuquan Temple, Guan Temple and Pearl Spring.

Yuquan Temple
One of the oldest Buddhist temples in China, built more than 1,700 years ago, and listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit in 1982.

Iron Pagoda in Yuquan Temple
Originally known as Rulai Relic Pagoda, the Yuquan Iron Pagoda is the tallest, heaviest and best-preserved iron pagoda in China. The octagonal 13-story pagoda was built in 1061 and cast in pig iron, with a height of 17.95 meters and a weight of 50 tons. 

Guan Temple
Legend has it that the god of Guan Yu, a famous general at the end of the Han Dynasty era (202 BC-220 AD) in ancient China, once appeared here.

Pearl Spring
Pearl Spring is an underground spring, getting its name from the pearl shaped bubbles it creates. It was known as one of the country's three major pearl springs, with the other two being Baotu Spring in Jinan and Jade Spring of West Lake in Hangzhou.
