Jiuwanxi River Scenic Area

Located 20 kilometers south of the Three Gorges Dam on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River is the Jiuxianxi River. Named the best rafting site in China, it is also the most treacherous section of the ancient shipping route in the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.



The entire length of the river runs about 46 kilometers, while the rafting passage is 6.4 kilometers with 32 rapid currents and dangerous shoals, 28 deep pools, and a total drop of over 100 meters.



The river is famous for its magnificent mountains, cliffs and rock formations as well as its beautiful waters and flowers. The peaks on both sides of the canyon stand tall with more than 100 species of lush vegetation, not only enhancing its charm, but also making it a great place for scientific research.
