Students' self-designed products attract investors

A self-designed intelligent wheelchair controller and smart medical kit controller designed by a student team from China Three Gorges University (CTGU) has attracted potential investment of a million yuan (about 14,300 USD) after a trial in hospitals and nursing homes.
Costing less than 60 yuan, the smart medical kit controller monitors medication use, shielding elderly people from errors. The intelligent wheelchair controller can be connected to most electric wheelchairs on the market for route planning and driving.
The two products were designed and developed by seven students from CTGU, who took part in a robotics workshop in late 2022.
During the workshop, hosted by CTGU’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship College, students trialed their designs under the watchful gaze of workshop lecturers. Group training and competitions stimulated further innovation.
