Yichang police recently rescued a man after being trapped in a cave for four days, claiming he had come to pick herbs.
At about 9 pm on May 2, the Hejiaping Police Station in Changyang County, Yichang City, was ordered to rescue a Mr. Liang, whose family had called for help. The family told police that he had not eaten for several days and was trapped deep in the mountains of Qinggangping Village in Hejiaping Town.
Police and firefighters searched for him in the area but their efforts were in vain. The family called the police again and said that he was now near the Luosijian Bridge of Longwangchong Village. At this point, police managed to reach Liang through phone, who said with a very weak voice that he was no longer able to climb.
After several more hours of searching, the rescue team found him in the deepest section of a cave within the canyon. Having not eaten for several days, Liang was too weak to walk by himself. The rescuers carried him onto an ambulance using both stretchers and their own backs. An initial diagnosis showed that Liang was not injured and his family was able to bring him home.
