Yichang busy during May Day holiday

Yichang was busy during the five-day May Day holiday that ended this Wednesday.
Almost 900,000 people arrived in or left Yichang by rail over the five-day period, an increase of nearly 9 percent on pre-pandemic 2019, according to figures from China Railway Wuhan Bureau Group Co.
Most short-distance trips were to Wuhan, Xiangyang and Enshi with other people traveling long-distance to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xi'an, and other cities with tourist attractions.
Yichang’s major shopping malls and commercial complexes ran promotions to stimulate consumption. People dined out, and made a beeline for entertainment venues.
Sales in Yichang’s top 10 commercial complexes reached almost 145 million yuan (US$20.85 million) during the five-day period.
Data from the beverage industry likewise shows an increase in restaurant and hotel sales.
