2023 Yichang Marathon information

Time: The 2023 Yichang Marathon will kick off at 7:30 am on April 30.
Why an April date? In previous years, the Yichang Marathon was held in October or November, but this year's race will start on April 30, the second day of the May Day holiday (April 29 to May 3). This will make it easier for amateur participants to come to Yichang, and also attract more tourists.
The route: Both the full marathon (42.195 km) and half marathon (21.0975 km) will start at Yichang Peace Park and end at Binjiang Park . The health run (10 km) will end at Wujiagang Primary School, and the mini run (4.2 km) at Wangjiahe Park.
How was the route chosen? Yichang sits on the Yangtze River. This year, the marathon route follows the riverbank. The full marathon and half marathon go up the whole stretch of the riverside avenue before crossing the Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge, about 2.7 kilometers north of the upstream Gezhouba Dam.
History: Founded in October 2016, the Yichang Marathon has been held four times so far.

Each day, particularly in the early morning or late afternoon, people can be seen jogging and exercising in Yichang City. Sport is ingrained in the city's DNA.

The 2019 Yichang MarathonParticipation: The 2023 Yichang Marathon is the first marathon to be held in the city since the pandemic, with a total of 22,000 runners signed up. There are 23 foreign participants, from countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The sponsor: GAC Trumpchi, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GAC Group, is sponsoring the event. GAC Trumpchi produces Trumpchi vehicles in its Yichang manufacturing plant. The GAC Group ranks 189th among the world's top 500 companies.
