Yichang is experiencing a strong recovery in cultural tourism this year.

Many tourist attractions in Yichang have received a significant increase. For instance, from January 1 to April 25, the Three Gorges Dam received roughly eight hundred thousand tourists, an increase of 1187% compared with 2022; Qu yuan's Hometown Culture Tourist Attraction has received more than one hundred thousand tourists, an increase of 148% compared with 2022.

According to Chen Yuanyuan, Network Promotion Manager of the Three Gorges Dam Tourist Area, the number of tourists visiting the Three Gorges Dam has been surpassing 10,000 tourists each day since March and peaked at 16,000 people per day during the holiday.

"A large portion of tourists are young people," Chen Yuanyuan said. Since the beginning of spring, the Three Gorges Dam has received many tour groups that came to experience the culture of the dam.

From the beginning of this year, tens of thousands of students have visited the Three Gorges Indigenous Educational Base to learn about the Ba and Chu cultures and experience the intangible cultural heritage.

"Tourists mainly come from other cities and provinces like Wuhan, Henan, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Anhui, and Hunan," said Shi Xianjun, assistant general manager of the Three Gorges Indigenous Scenic Area.

More than half of the tourists that visit the Hometown of Qu Yuan Tourist Area this year were in tour groups and from outside Hubei Province. The tourist area launched activities such as spring flower viewing, a Hanfu garden tour, and intangible cultural heritage folk performances at festivals such as the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, and Women's Day, attracting lots of citizens and tourists to visit.
