Yichang's Sanxia Airport kicked the year off to a good start with 6,476 total flights and a passenger throughput of 656,400 during the first quarter.
Yichang's Sanxia Airport kicked the year off to a good start with 6,476 total flights and a passenger throughput of 656,400 during the first quarter.
The number of flights in Q1 has seen a 37.9% year-on-year increase over 2022, nearly caught up with the same period during 2019. The number of passenger throughput has recovered to 85% of the same period in 2019, a 64% year-on-year increase over 2022.
Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Chengdu and Kunming are among the most popular cities for Yichang travelers.
To meet rising demands, Yichang Sanxia Airport added five new routes during the first quarter, enabling Yichang travelers to take flights to places including Anhui, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Tibet and Sanya.
The airport will undergo the international port examination after recent upgrades to Terminal 1. Once passed, Sanxia Airport will become the second international airport in Hubei Province with the other being Wuhan’s Tianhe Airport.
