Tourists flock to the Three Gorges Dam

A record 450,000 people visited the Three Gorges Dam in the first quarter of 2023, up 7 percent on the same quarter in pre-pandemic 2019.
With warmer spring weather, and the removal of pandemic controls, tourists are out and about. Hubei province is seeing a surge in visitors.
During the Spring Festival, the Three Gorges Dam tourist area received more than 65,000 tourists from home and abroad.
Cruises on the Yangtze River started up again at the end of February, and the government has introduced favorable policies for the tourism market.
A number of large tour groups, study tour groups as well as the first Hong Kong and Macao business tour group invited by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism have visited the Three Gorges Dam, to see the mega hydroelectric engineering project with their own eyes.
