Yichang sets out to attract new talents

On Thursday, the second annual Yichang "330" Three Gorges International Talents Day was held. Nearly 300 experts, scholars, entrepreneurs and youth representatives from both home and abroad gathered in Yichang to plan for the city's development.
During the event, a project among government, enterprise, higher education institutions and research institutions was signed, as well as 11 high-level talent projects.
Scientific research teams from the 712th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding, Soochow University, Wuhan University and Wuhan University of Technology will carry out cooperation in key areas including smart manufacturing, new energy and new materials, and biomedicine in Yichang.
After signing a project with Angel Yeast, Zhang Gaoke, chief professor at Wuhan University of Technology, said they will focus on clean energy and waste resource utilization in the future while strengthening industry, academia and research cooperation with Yichang enterprises.
Pan Jianxin, a technical expert from the 712th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, said: "Yichang's innovation, entrepreneurship and talent policies are very good, and we hope to land and transform our scientific research results in Yichang to help the city build a clean energy capital."
At the end of 2021, Yichang released its talent policies. According to the plan, Yichang will invest 7 billion yuan (US$1.02 billion) in talent over five years.
In 2022, Yichang distributed a total of 586 million yuan in "talent packages" while introducing 72,637 new talents across various fields.
The latest policies released on March 29 focus on attracting top innovative talents and a new generation of young people entering the workforce to take root in Yichang.
More and more outstanding talents from home and abroad is choosing to develop and settle in Yichang.

Dr. Yang Yuqi from Huazhong University of Science and Technology was born in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. She came to Yichang after graduating in July 2022 and now works at China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd.
She said she hopes to make full use of her professional advantages, devote herself to research on water resources utilization, apply her research results to technical applications as soon as possible, and contribute to the high-quality economic development of Yichang.
In November 2021, Unid (China) Group proposed to invest 1.23 billion yuan in a new project in Zhijiang.
"The deep foundation of Yichang's green chemical industry, superior humanistic and business environment, and advantages of infrastructure support and transportation have strengthened our confidence in development," said Jung Hee Taek, deputy general manager of Unid (Hubei) New Materials from South Korea.
Thomas Stephen Ramsey, from the United States, is an associate professor at the College of Foreign Languages of China Three Gorges University. He recently took part in a short video about oranges that introduced Yichang to nearly millions of netizens around the world.
He feels that the talent environment in Yichang has improved and is continuing to heat up. He believes that as more and more foreign talents come to Yichang, the channels and platforms for the city to showcase itself overseas will expand.
