Massive cruise ship passes through Three Gorges Dam ship locks

A cruise ship carrying 255 tourists passed through the iconic five-level ship lock of the Three Gorges Dam last Friday. It is the first 10,000-ton long-line tourist passenger ship to visit the Three Gorges Dam this year.

This Century Legend ship set sail out of Chongqing on March 21 en route to Shanghai. Passing through a total of eight provinces, travelers can enjoy 2,500 km of natural landscape along the Yangtze River.
The trip will last 15 days and pass through Yichang between its fourth and sixth days. Tourists can enjoy a beautiful view of Xiling Gorge; pass through the Three Gorges Dam ship lock; visit the Cut-off Memorial Park of the Three Gorges Dam, Three Gorges Dam Engineering Museum and Three Gorges Indigenous Scenic Area; and finally travel downstream through the Gezhouba Dam ship lock.
The ship, operated by Chongqing-based Century Cruise company, is expected to sail this route four times in 2023, bringing more than 1,000 travelers through Yichang.
On April 8, another ship from Century Cruise that can carry up to 650 tourists is expected to set sail on its first voyage from Chongqing to Yichang.
Within this year, the Century Cruise company will increase its annual capacity to more than 160,000 travelers.
