Yichang people are signing up in droves to take part in this year’s tree-planting activities.

Sunday March 12 will be the 45th Chinese National Tree-Planting Day, so the Yichang Municipal Bureau of Forestry and Parks is busy with its "internet + voluntary tree-planting" campaign.

The public can book the place and time online before heading to the planting sites in downtown Yichang or in 8 different counties. Around 35,000 trees – including crape myrtle, ginkgo, fir, cherry and other species – will be planted or nurtured.

Nearly 5,000 people will be able to take part in this campaign. The campaign is proving popular. Many tree planting sites were snapped up as soon as they came online.

This is the third year that Yichang’s has rolled out its "internet + voluntary tree-planting" program, said Ke Zhiqiang, Director of the Yichang Municipal Bureau of Forestry and Parks.

In 2022, 207 voluntary tree-planting activities were carried out in the city, with strong public participation.
