Yichang welcomes a new wave of tour groups as China eases up pandemic control.
More than 200 tourists from outside provinces arrived Tuesday to Yichang’s Maoping Port on the chartered cruise "New High Lake,” to start a four-day in-depth tour of Hubei.
This is the first out-of-province chartered ship tour in Hubei, according to Polar News, a local news agency.
Meanwhile, the first special train tour this year is set to bring in more than 600 people to Yichang East Railway Station on Thursday.
By taking the cruise “New High Lake,” the only on the Yangtze River that can carry both people and vehicles, tourists traveled from Chongqing to Yichang, enjoying scenery along the way.
For the next three days, they will visit several scenic spots, including Jingzhou Ancient City, Yellow Crane Tower, Honghu Ecological Park, and the Chibi ancient battlefield from the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280).
This March will see 15 tour groups and more than 2,000 chartered boat groups to Hubei. The number of special trains is expected to reach 10, carrying a total of nearly 8,000 tourists.
Xu Shu, a tour guide, said it was the first group she received since the epidemic. “We are expecting more tourists soon,” she said.
