Immense box girder completed in Yichang’s high-speed rail project

The largest box girder of the Yichang High-speed Rail New Town Project was completed on February 24 after 38-hours of work.
A total of 3,002 cubic meters of concrete was poured using a one time cast-in-place method, consuming 7,204.8 tons altogether.
Two groups worked in two shifts to carry out construction and overcame many difficulties including the low temperatures.
The box girder is part of a viaduct of the interchange project, the third sub-project of Yichang’s High-speed Rail New Town Project and also the first project in Yiling District.
For the sub-project, the length of the road is designed to be about 1.6 kilometers, including nearly 1 kilometer of new mainline viaduct.
It will facilitate fast switching of the city’s urban road network and improve its northward expansion.
As a result of the project, the drive from Yichang’s main city to the high speed rail station will be cut in half after its completion.
